FAQ
Straight answers before you bring in a recipe.

What is Kitchen Magic?
Kitchen Magic is a personal cooking library for recipes you already use. It turns supported sources into clean, editable recipes and gives you a step-by-step Cook Mode.
What can I bring in today?
Kitchen Magic currently accepts website links, one or more photos, PDFs, pasted text, and recipes entered manually. Video links and links from social platforms are not supported for recipe imports.
Can I fix an imported recipe?
Yes. An import creates an unsaved draft. Review and correct the title, ingredients, and steps before choosing Save recipe. You can edit it again later, compare saved versions, and restore an earlier version.
What happens to the original?
When the import captures an original photo or source, Kitchen Magic keeps it available with the structured recipe. Exact coverage depends on the source type.
Are my recipes public?
There is no public recipe feed. A personal library stays private; household members share their household library. A private recipe invitation gives its recipient access only to the selected recipe version.
Can I share one recipe with a friend?
Yes. Send a private link or email for one exact saved version, with read-only or independent-copy access. Later edits do not propagate. You can revoke the invitation; an independent copy already saved by your friend remains theirs.
Does Kitchen Magic work on phones and computers?
Kitchen Magic runs in a web browser on phones, tablets, and computers. Native mobile apps are not part of the accepted MVP.
Does it work without a connection?
During a temporary connection loss, eligible previously opened recipes can show a dated, read-only last-synced view on that device. It is not a complete offline library. Importing, editing, sharing, and other writes require a connection; expired or unavailable saved views ask you to reconnect.
Can I get my recipes out?
Use Account → Data controls to request and download a recipe export. Wait for the export to be ready and check the downloaded archive. Keep your own backup of recipes you cannot replace.
Can I delete a recipe?
Yes. Deleted recipes move to Recently deleted, where an authorized owner can restore them for 30 days. The confirmation and recovery screens show what is affected and when recovery ends.
What does Cook Mode do?
Cook Mode shows one step at a time with the ingredients used in that step. Named timers can run together, and the screen stays awake while Cook Mode is open.
Does Kitchen Magic include shopping lists or meal planning?
The current product includes a shopping list and a rolling two-week meal-tracking view. These are supporting tools, not the main reason to choose the product.
How does chatting with a recipe work?
Open a recipe and ask for what you need, such as “Can I use dried basil?” or “Can you give me US measurements?” Kitchen Magic uses AI to suggest changes for you to review and save as a new version. You can also adjust servings, with guidance for cooking time and equipment. Your original stays available.
What is free?
Launch pricing may change before general availability. Self-service accounts are available, and payment is not available yet. Planned public-launch pricing: Free ($0, up to 15 recipes); Kitchen Magic ($29/year or $3.99/month, unlimited). Free includes the same supported capture, editing, scaling, and Cook Mode experience. The paid Kitchen Magic tier removes the recipe limit.
What will Kitchen Magic cost?

Is there a trial, and how will renewal or cancellation work?
Kitchen Magic is not taking payment today, and no public trial or lifecycle terms are approved yet. Public launch requires trial, renewal, cancellation, refund, entitlement, and cross-platform terms to be clear before signup or payment.
How do I get access today?
Create a personal kitchen with a verified Google account. If you have a live household invitation, sign in with the invited Google address to join it instead.
